Walt Bogart, M.D. - Medical Director
Walt Bogart, M.D. is the Medical Director at The Spectrum LASIK Vision Correction Center. Dr. Bogart has performed
upwards of 20,000 LASIK procedures making him the most experienced LASIK surgeons in South Carolina.
About one out of 450 people in South Carolina have had LASIK by Dr. Bogart. Additionally, Dr.
Bogart is one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the country.
Dr. Bogart has been certified to teach other LASIK doctors the technology necessary to perform laser vision
corrective procedures. Out of 16,000 eye surgeons in the United States approximately 40 have received
this certification.
Dr. Bogart graduated from The University of California, Berkley. He received his medical training from
one of the best medical schools in the country, at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Medical Center,
Houston, Texas. He completed his residency in ophthalmology in Washington, D.C. at the Walter
Reed Medical Center.
Dr. Bogart has honorably served his country both in the U.S. Air force and Army. During his service
in the military, Dr. Bogart served as a Hospital Commander in Sinai, Egypt.
Dr. Bogart continues post doctoral training in all aspects of laser vision correction. He is a member of the
American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons as well as
the International Society of Refractive Surgeons and the South Carolina Medical Association. Dr. Bogart retired
as a Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) from the South Carolina National Guard where he served as a Flight Surgeon
with 169th Fighter Wing (F-16).
